The Incredible Growth of AI-Related Terms in Media Reports

Media outlets have increased their use of terminology related to artificial intelligence since the release of ChatGPT in November 2022.

Based on analysis of 10 years of data from the NOW Corpus, use of the term "AI" and other related terms has surged in late 2022 and throughout 2023.

ChatGPT's release has also led to a rise in coverage of potential AI pitfalls, with terms such as "AI safety" and "responsible AI" seeing a spike since 2022.
