A survey conducted by The Harris Poll on behalf of Grammarly revealed that 72% of business leaders and 53% of knowledge workers are paying more attention to the tone of their messages within their organization than what is being communicated.
The survey also showed that remote workers are more likely to perceive a sender positively if the communication has a positive tone. Additionally, both business leaders and knowledge workers ranked tone as the second-most important element of communication. Certain groups such as Gen Z, LGBTQ, and neurodivergent are less likely to say their company's communication is effective.
Overall, the survey revealed that attitude and tone in written communication is crucial, especially in a dispersed environment. Positive tones can elicit quicker responses, higher-quality work, and better overall communication.
