LinkedIn Data: The 10 Most In-Demand Marketing and Sales Skills

According to recent research from LinkedIn, social media expertise is the most in-demand marketing skill and customer service expertise is the most in-demand sales skill. The most in-demand skills for marketing roles are social media, management, digital marketing, communication, and strategy, while the most in-demand skills for sales roles are customer service, management, communication, marketing, and leadership.

Across all business functions, the most in-demand skills on LinkedIn are management, communication, customer services, leadership, sales, project management, research, analytical expertise, marketing, and teamwork. For engineering roles, the most in-demand skills are JavaScript, Java, SQL, Python, and CSS, while for IT roles, the most in-demand skills are management, SQL, Microsoft Office, project management, and analytical expertise.

The report was based on an analysis of LinkedIn data. The researchers determined the most in-demand skills based on three components: Skills possessed by LinkedIn members who have been hired recently; skills possessed by LinkedIn members who have received recruiter InMails recently; and skills included in recent paid jobs listings on LinkedIn.
