Blogging Benchmarks: Word Count, Frequency, Production, and Traffic Trends

Recent research from Orbit Media Studios has shown that the average word count of blog posts has increased from 808 words in 2014 to 1,416 words in 2021.

The survey found that 45% of bloggers publish posts weekly or several times a month, and it takes them an average of four hours to write a blog post. The most important traffic sources for blogs are search engines, social media, and email.

This report was based on a survey conducted in September 2021 among 1,067 bloggers. It provides valuable insight into the current state of blogging and how it has changed over the past eight years.
