How Including Links in LinkedIn Posts Affects Engagement

Do LinkedIn posts with links or without links have higher engagement? Social Insider and Lightspan Digital analyzed engagement on 86,504 posts from 883 brand pages and found that posts without links performed better than those with links, with the exception of job posts. Image posts had an average engagement rate 70% higher without links. Adding a link as the first comment was also not widely adopted.

Image posts had the highest average engagement, followed by video posts and job posts. The research was based on an analysis of engagement on 86,504 LinkedIn posts from 883 brand pages.

This study provides an insight into how to get the most engagement on LinkedIn posts. Companies should opt for posts without links, except for job posts, and should consider adding a link as the first comment.
