Five Tips to Improve SEO Using Stock Images and Videos

When improving organic search result rankings, imagery and video must not be neglected. Not only do images and video help put your content in front of potential customers, but they are also increasingly important for ranking in search algorithms. Here are five tips to help you use imagery and videos to drive stronger SEO.

1. Use stock photos and stock imagery if they look authentic and relevant

Stock photos and imagery can be good for SEO, and can even appear in featured modules. Make sure the images help customers identify with your brand and the corresponding content objectives. Additionally, use high-resolution images of at least 1,200 pixels wide with an aspect ratio of 16x9, 4x3, or 1x1.

2. Be descriptive

Ensure that titles, captions, file names, article copy, and ALT text are all descriptive. Additionally, use a relevant SEO page title and description, as search engines usually use those to describe either the page or the image itself. This is also true for videos, with the words you say, the title, and description all contributing to your ranking results.
