The Pain of Marketing Leaders: Why We're Overwhelmed and What We Can Do About It

Few understand the challenges marketing leaders face. These challenges can prevent us from enjoying the rewards of our efforts and successes. Marketing leaders understand the pressures we face from the Formidable Four: overload of data, decisions, and tasks; demands of deadlines and expectations; frustrations with partners; and fear of having to prove ourselves.

We control our budget spending, timing of marketing campaigns and tactics, and vendor and marketing team selection. We can influence but not fully control our marketing team, leadership team, and vendors. Defining and establishing marketing principles helps us collaborate and understand each other better. Running with a pack gives us educated, sympathetic, and experienced voices.

Taking steps to combat the Formidable Four can return the deep sense of satisfaction that goes with moving the marketplace through the art and science we practice as marketing leaders. Resources are available to help us grow and become better marketing leaders.
