Creating a successful B2B blog requires time, effort and cooperation from various departments in an organization. The goal should be to develop a long-term relationship with the readers, making them loyal believers. Posts shorter than 1,000 words don't have enough depth to establish the organization as an expert. Here are five tactics to help build a blog with a faithful audience.
1. Tell a story of personal transformation to connect with the audience. People love stories and the hero's journey is a great plot line. CEOs don't often share stories of failure, but it's one of the easiest ways to connect with the readers. Examples with specific details can help build trust.
2. Include data that no one else has. Share customer data, survey results and data from the product or service. Anonymize the data if needed, but numbers should tell the story. Give away datasets from the Web, like one client did with coronavirus related documents.
3. Tie in the product to a relevant theme. Newsjacking is a popular tactic, but it requires agility. Go with a larger theme and make sure it fits the product or service. Combining several tactics, like examples, tie-in content and real-life customer stories, demonstrates expertise and builds trust.
